Lucinda with Beatrice
a Senegal Parrot

Lucinda Keller is a self taught artist. She has been creating beautiful images ever since she can remember. Lucinda is an avid pet lover, actress and musician (celtic harp). She has been a professional pet portrait artist since 1997. Her pen and ink drawings and watercolors express more than the physical characteristics of an animal. Lucinda captures their spirit.
Lucinda has always been surrounded by creativity. She comes from a family of artists. Presently her mother Carole, is working with an art historian regarding an exhibit of her artifacts and treasures acquired while living in Islamabad, Pakistan. In addition, her mom is painting wonderful Central and Southern Asian children in their native tribal dress for an educational book that will included pieces from the exhibit. Her sister Penny is an interior designer in Santa Barbara and creates incredible inspirational oil paintings of mandalas as well as unique mandala art cards. Her Grandma is 80 and still having gallery showings of her paintings and color portrait drawings. She is a singer, has costumed countless theatrical productions, and "happens to be a gorgeous superstar". Great Grandmother Gongie wrote short stories, poetry and music. She had a radio program in Los Angeles where she sang with a pianist. In 1929, she sang a musical request from Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks.
Lucinda has found much inspiration in traveling. "It has fed my creativity on conscious and unconscious levels, opened my mind and spirit to such beauty in nature and humanity." It was while traveling in Asia, Africa, and Europe that she began to work with photography, taking pictures of lions in Kenya. She would then draw the animals from the photos. "Animals are such a gift whether it's our pets or the lions in Africa. My dogs Gigi and Curley were with us seventeen years and are still so much in my heart. Their sweet souls inspire me and remind me how important other peoples' pets are to them."
She now resides in Los Angeles with her two birds: a yellow Indian Ringneck "Shakti," "beautiful and she knows it" and Beatrice a Senegal parrot "who is a HUGE snuggler and too smart for her own good!"
